The first of many symptoms of bad gas caps is likely a gas cap that will not tighten completely or a loose gas cap.
If you drive without a gas cap, it can lead to poor gas mileage because the fuel may evaporate without the correct cap and seal on the gas tank. Avoid the smell of the fuel evaporating from the gas tank which causes diminished gas mileage.There are two types/options. One with keys and one without keys. They both come with the seal already.
Never buy aftermarket or locking gas caps. They do not seal properly!
